Sera Lilly runway shots from ANZFW 2009
I am so excited about New Zealand Fashion Week already after today's announcement, even though it is still quite a few weeks away I'm sure it will be here before we know it.  This year marks 10 years for NZFW and even though they are without Air New Zealand as naming rights sponsor this year, the designer line-up is the biggest one yet.  This year's feature international guest is the USA's Nicole Miller which is sure to be an amazing show.  I'm sure it will be a more stylish affair than the chaos of Richie Rich and Pamela Anderson's A*muse spectacle last year.  I am also seriously excited that Kathryn Wilson is going to have her own shoe specific show this year, in previous years she has just supported other designers in their shows.  Kathryn's show is also the first shoe specific in NZFW's history and as a big fan of hers I can't wait to see what she produces.

Clever Australian designer's Kym Ellery and Fernando Frisoni will also be showing this year as well as my local favourites Hailwood, Cybele, Juliette Hogan, Sera Lilly, Alexandra Owen and Karen Walker.  Another one of my favourites Auckland based label Ruby are also doing their first NZFW show this year which if their recent delightful collections are anything to go by is sure to be brilliant.  Lastly I have to mention one of my favourite designers from 2008 Chelsea Thorpe, who is back in 2010 with a new label Never Black.  Her 'Mrs Robinson' inspired collection at the 2008 NZ fashion week was absolutely gorgeous and a total show-stopper, I really can't wait to see what she does this year.  Bring on NZFW 2010, I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic one!

  1. What do they do clothes-wise at a shoe specific fashion show? I'm assuming they do wear some!! Do they just go for really neutral stuff that doesn't cover the shoes?

  2. I'm hoping the models wear clothes too! It has yet to be explained how it will work exactly, but it would be great if she does something clever and creative with the shoes. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, thanks for your comment :)
