Shoe Of The Week - Kathryn Wilson Amelia Heel

Sunday, October 31, 2010

One of my favourite things about warmer weather is getting to expose areas of skin that rarely see daylight in winter, such as toes and feet.  I adore open-toed shoes and pretty pedicures in summer, in my opinion pretty feet should be mantained all year round, but I know that's not the same for everyone.  Anyway, these cute little Amelia sandals from kiwi designer Kathryn Wilson caught my eye recently in the window of Juliette Hogan's store in Ponsonby and I thought how perfect they would be for summer.

I love the colours they come in - Marine (above) Aqua (below), Tan and Black and as with all Kathryn's shoes they are made from good quality leather so they last really well.  They are also a really easy height to wear all day with a heel height of just 10cms.  At $299 (nzd) they are a great versatile shoe for summer and are available at Kathryn's online store too.

Cindy Crawford Is Back

Sunday, October 31, 2010

Continuing on the model theme, about as far as you can get from freshly minted model Danielle Hayes is a model who has enjoyed a 20+ year career, supermodel Cindy Crawford.  Unbelievably Cindy is now 44 years old and still looks incredible, much like her 80's and 90's supermodel counterparts Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen etc.

Danielle Comes Out On Top

Friday, October 29, 2010

New Zealand's Next Top Model has just ended on TV3 and the winner for Cycle 2 is Danielle Hayes, the accidental model from Kawerau who auditioned for the show on a dare.  It's certainly been an up and down 13 weeks for Danielle, but despite flubbing the Covergirl commercial and being not quite as convincing in the final WOW performance, her amazing pictures meant that the judges saw the most top model potential in her.

To be honest I would have been happy for any of the top 3 to win as they were all such strong contenders.  Although I did think that Michaela's professionalism tonight would secure her the win, but as we all know second place runners can often end up out performing the winners in time, so it will be very interesting to see how the NZNTM girls do out in the industry over the next few years.  Congratulations to Danielle, she certainly has a unique look and with stunning photos like hers she is deserving of being New Zealand's Next Top Model.

Simply Sublime Shakuhachi

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Shakuhachi's Spring/Summer 2010/11 collection has to be my favourite of theirs to date.  I recently included their Daytripper dress in my Summer dresses post and I loved the whole collection so much I just had to put some more of it up.  The collection is entitled 'Love Etc' and it's just as romantic, flirty and fun as the name suggests.  With smatterings of lace, florals, ruffles it's a pretty feminine collection complimented with some clever draping and ruching.  I love the denim blue and blush tones and I really do not have any favourites from this collection as I want and would wear it all.  Nice work Shakuhachi, this would be a perfect summer dresses wardrobe.

The Beautiful Brooke Fraser

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

These stunning photos of the gorgeous Brooke Fraser were shot by a talented young photographer I blogged about a couple of months ago.  Nirrimi Joy is just 18 years old and has to be one of the most promising photography talents I have seen in a long time.  She shot these photos of Brooke on a californian road trip to take photos for Brooke's new album 'Flags', the first single from which 'Something In the Water' I absolutely adore.  Brooke also started her career in her late teens and I'm sure Nirrimi will go on to be just as successful, I can't wait to see what she does next.

Kate Moss Smoulders For Valisere

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Kate Moss is one of those iconic models who has done more campaigns and covers in her career than I could possibly list for you here.  At 36 she is still booking the top jobs and as these recently released images from Valisere's new range show, she is still as stunning as ever (although with a little more help from photoshop these days).  Valisere make some rather beautiful lingerie and my favourites from this collection would have to be the stunning scarlet pieces below.  As I have said before, I believe what's underneath an outfit should be every bit as pretty as what's on display and these sultry new pieces might just have to be added to my collection sometime very soon.

Monday Must Have From Jayson Brunsdon

Monday, October 25, 2010

I adore this stunningly simple but oh so effective dress from Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon.  It's called the St Tropez dress and is so tres chic it definitely deserves to be named after such a stylish place.  The dress was inspired by David Hockney's pool paintings and is such a clever combination of sky blue, coral and white.  At just $274 (aud) from Jayson Brunsdon's online store it's a great price for such an elegant dress that you could easily wear all summer long.

Kate's Great Summer

Monday, October 25, 2010

Emily dress
Kate Sylvester has just released her high summer range from her 'This Charming Man' collection and it's every bit as relaxed and pretty as her earlier release.  These really are the perfect clothes for lazy summer days.  My favourites are the Emily dress (above) that could so easily be dressed up or down and the beautiful lace Rachel dress that is delicate looking but so wearable.  Kate consistently puts out collections that are so very clever and carefully considered, she really hits the nail on the head every time.  I'd wear pretty much every piece.  But where to start?

Shoe Of The Week - Roberto Cavalli Chain Shoes

Sunday, October 24, 2010

I just love how different and vintage looking these Roberto Cavalli strappy chain shoes are.  I can just imagine the soft swishing of the delicate chains against my feet as I walk in them.  Although at $1150 (usd) from Zappos.com, these will also be going on my wish list for now.  A girl can dream though, mostly of amazing shoes and how much fun it would be to dance in them.

Summer Dress Ups With Sasha

Sunday, October 24, 2010

I just came across this brilliantly shot photoshoot on Fashion Gone Rogue featuring Sasha Pivovarova and shot by Mikael Jansson for the November issue of Vogue Paris.  I just adore everything about it, from the bohemian styling to the 'dress up' feel of it and the sweet maternal relationship portrayed.  I couldn't choose a favourite few shots so I had to post pretty much all of them as I liked it so much.  It's so gorgeous and playful and really looks like they had a lot of fun.  It reminds me of the countless hours I spent dressing up in my mother's clothes as a child which I loved every moment of.

Sweet As Sera

Sunday, October 24, 2010

One of New Zealand's most feminine designers would have to be Auckland's Sera Lilly, who specialises in beautiful dresses.  'L'eclisse' is the title of her collection for Spring/Summer 2010/11 and it's just as gorgeous as it's name suggests.  Fresh floral prints, delicate laces and sensuous silks make up a collection which provides a dress for every occasion.

With party season rapidly approaching I will be investing in some pretty Sera Lilly pieces to wear to everything from the races, to parties and summer weddings.  If you'd love to see Sera's creations on the runway she will also be showing her summer collection at the Fashion Beauty Music party on November 20th at Kelliher Estate in Auckland, tickets from Iticket.

Sera also does exquisite wedding gowns for brides who want romantic gowns for their special day.  They are simple in design but just beautiful and as Sera also custom makes gowns to order she is one of the first stops for Auckland brides who want a special New Zealand made gown.  Sera's designs are really just so pretty.
