Stunning SAG Style

Lea Michele
Closely following the Golden Globes, Hollywood's Screen Actors Guild Awards is another opportunity for beautiful starlets to grace the red carpet in glamourous gowns.  Slightly less formal than the Oscars, the SAG Awards red carpet still provided some stunning outfits with true star quality.   There was definitely quite a bit of texture and prints in these garments.  I love that Mila Kunis wore new season Alexander McQueen, it's such a dramatic colour and print and her styling of it is perfection.  Claire Danes also chose a print but a pretty floral in teal and grey tones by Louis Vuitton.

Glee's Lea Michele looked incredible in silver sparkly Oscar de la Renta, I love the 70's feel of this dress accented by the silver skinny belt.  Angie Harmon's soft pink Monique L'Huillier gown was totally on trend with the ballet look that is going to be big again this season, the feathers and tulle are just so pretty and frothy.  Tina Fey also went for texture with her stunning red Oscar De La Renta gown, the floral detail on this dress is just sublime.

Keeping it simpler were Hilary Swank in Versace and Amy Adams in Herve L Leroux.  Both gowns focused on clever draping in neutral tones with accent details.  January Jones also looked amazing in her gold lace Carolina Herrera dress that flatters her lithe body in just the right way.  Kim Kardashian also dressed to flatter her curves in stunning bejewelled Marchesa.  These gowns were my picks for the most stylish of the night, I can't wait for more red carpet glamour as awards season continues on it's path to the Oscars.

Natalie's Sweet For Dior

Sunday, January 30, 2011

I have been meaning to post this pretty picture for a couple of weeks of Natalie Portman's new Miss Dior Cherie campaign.  I really like this image, it's just the right amount of sweet, subtle and sensual and Miss Portman looks her sublime best.  We will be seeing a whole lot more of this stunning image in coming months, I can't wait to see her television ad too.

Easy Sunday

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Sunday is all about casual beauty and relaxed fun, which this shoot evokes in spades.  I just love this playful photoshoot featuring Elisa Sednaoui and shot by Matt Jones for Elle Italia's February issue.   Elisa is a picture of insouciant prettiness styled in looks from Chanel, Gucci and Balenciaga among others.  The carefree poses, cheekiness and beautiful use of natural light make this shoot really appealing to me.

Helena Plays Mrs Robinson

Sunday, January 30, 2011

I was just looking through my fashion photography archive and came across this rather hot Harper's Bazaar photoshoot of Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick and supermodel Helena Christensen, which is nearly 2 years old now.  But since Gossip Girl is now back on our screens and I haven't posted this shoot before, I thought now was as good a time as any to post it as I really like it.

I love the Mrs Robinson angle they have gone for with this shoot, she must be at least 20 years his senior, although still stunningly beautiful.  This really does look like an evening Westwick's alter ego Chuck Bass would revel in, although I'm sure Ed also enjoyed every moment of this sexy shoot.  These two have almost palpable chemistry in these photos and are perfectly styled.

Master Mabille

Sunday, January 30, 2011

France's stylish first lady Carla Bruni is a fan of couturier Alexis Mabille and it's not hard to see why.  His latest collection is simply stunning and a clever take on drafts and mirror images.  He has created each piece in pure white and then an identical piece in vivid colour which makes quite a statement on the runway.

These gowns are cut and draped so beautifully, they look deceptively simple but are so elegant.  I have to admit I prefer the colour versions over the white, but it really is a clever concept for a collection and reminds me of the way designers create their garments in calico before a final version is made.  The coloured dresses pop that much more when following their white versions.  I adore the last dress in scarlet, it's completely gorgeous and totally covetable.

Exquisite Elie

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Elie Saab's couture collection has to be one of the most beautiful, feminine and utterly captivating collections to grace the runway this year.  Every single gown was totally red carpet worthy and I'm sure there will be many starlets clamouring to wear them to upcoming premieres and awards shows.

I adore the soft, pretty colour palette of blush, nude, lilac, silver and light green, with crimson and black for added drama.  These gowns are absolutely swoon worthy creations of lace, chiffon, tulle, organza and beading, what I wouldn't give to wear one of these for a day.  I just love every single one of them.  Amazing work by another master couturier.

Oh So Divine Dior

Friday, January 28, 2011

Paris is a flutter with gorgeous gowns at the moment, as couture season is upon us again.  Inspired by Christian Dior's golden age of haute couture in the 40's and 50's, designer John Galliano has created a breathtaking couture collection as a tribute to RenĂ© Gruau.  He was the illustrator responsible for the house's iconic images of the time when it's 'New Look' was in vogue.

This opulent collection is too exquisite for words, I just adore the picture perfect vintage make-up and hairstyles too.  These sensational garments are the result of hundreds of hours work by infinitely talented couturiers, who have handpainted, dyed and embroidered each of these pieces to become the mesmerising looks gracing the runway.  I would love to wear each and every outfit, they are all absolutely amazing.  Spectacular work from a master couture dramatist.
