Glamourous NY

Another New York Fashion Week is done and dusted and the fashion pack have moved on to London with the expectations of another amazing week to come.  After viewing as much runway footage as I could cram into my brain this past week, I wanted to post the photos of the looks I loved the most, with my own spin.  Since it's red carpet season and the Oscars aren't far away, I focused on red carpet looks when choosing my outfits for this post, as opposed to choosing from all the beautiful daywear on display.

My pick of NY would have to be Rodarte, I absolutely adored their prairie inspired collection, it's just perfection.  It's that amazing mix of vintage, modern and feminine in a soft and pretty colour palette with just enough edge to keep it interesting.  What's not to love about a collection partly inspired by Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz' after all.

Closely following Rodarte would be Jason Wu, for his elegant, ladylike collection.  Marc Jacobs crazy polka dot, lace and leather frenzy would be next.  L'Wren Scott's pretty, girly colours captured my imagination.  And of course Marchesa's fabulous decaying opulence collection inspired by Miss Havisham from Great Expectations (which is one of my favourite books) was just spectacular and an unexpected approach from Georgina Chapman, but I just loved it.

The Northern hemisphere's Fall/Winter 2011/12 is certainly going to be a beautiful one, with lots of colours (especially scarlet), textures (adoring all the velvet) and incredible silhouettes (Ladylike is here to stay!).  London is already underway with Sass and Bide leading the charge for this side of the world, I can't wait to see what comes down the runways next.  Fashion week season is always such an exciting time of year.
