MBFWA Daily Reports for FashioNZ

Friday, May 11, 2012

MBFWA has been and gone in a crazy blur of neon brights, sequins and spectacular fashion.  It was a real pleasure to spend a week in Sydney, getting to see the latest collections of Australia's brilliant fashion labels for Spring/Summer 2012/13.

I'm currently catching up on the blogging I didn't have a chance to do during the week, but I did write daily reports on the MBFWA shows for FashioNZ which you can read here:

Day One
Day Two
Day Three
Day Four
Day Five

It became pretty clear after just the first day that summer is going to be a bright and pretty one in the southern hemisphere, with chartreuse the most popular colour and lots of sequins, lace, luxe fabrics and feminine shapes on the runway.

As much as I adored most of what I saw during the week, my favourite five collections were: Alice McCall's super sweet and very cohesive Babushka inspired collection, Gary Bigeni's elegant clean silhouettes and strong colour blocked collection, Aurelio Costarella's breathtakingly beautiful evening wear collection, Magdalena Velevska's stunning minimalist with a futuristic edge collection and Bowie's floaty and ethereal couture gown collection.

It was a truly fabulous week at MBFWA and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to attend.
