NZFW 2012: Juliette Hogan

Monday, September 10, 2012

Juliette Hogan has been one of my favourite local designers since I first came across her Ponsonby Road store not long after it opened in 2007.  Ever since I've looked forward to each new collection of hers with much anticipation and excitement, and she never, ever disappoints.

This year's NZFW collection entitled 'Don't Look Back' was another truly beautiful one.  This time the demure Juliette Hogan muse is on a journey, but definitely not the backpack kind, 'she travels in the first class train carriage, not the back of the bus'.  Given the massive amount of traveling I've done (never the backpack kind either) and continue to do, this is a muse I can definitely relate to.

Refined luxe is something Juliette does with ease, this collection is made up of stunning silks, soft fine merino and cashmere knits and striking sequins, in a simple but gorgeous colour palette of navy, teal, grey, ivory, black and a standout bright orange.  The silhouettes are as feminine and classic as ever with the timeless chic that each of her collections has, the floor sweeping Alexa dress (top photo) was the standout garment for me.  I would cheerfully add every piece of this collection to my wardrobe for winter as it's all so sophisticated and utterly elegant.  Another amazing collection Juliette.
