Amber Whitecliffe's Stunning Summer

Sunday, December 7, 2014

Summer has finally arrived in New Zealand and it's wonderful to be able to wear all the warm weather offerings currently in stores.  A few weeks back I wrote about Amber Whitecliffe's summer launch at her boutique which I attended and spoke at about my career and experiences in fashion so far.  It was a really fun night and I was pleased to see so many young bloggers there and read their posts about their experiences of the event afterwards.  Although the star of the night was definitely Amber's beautiful summer collection 'Mrs Pinto' as you can see here from these pretty lookbook shots.  I left this post a little while as I wanted to read all the coverage of the event and then let the dust settle so to speak before reminding everyone of just how gorgeous these pieces are.

As I've previously written, the range is inspired by Amber's marriage earlier this year to her new husband Elroy, who is of Portuguese and Indian descent.  You can see these influences in her colour palette, especially with the strong reds, the florals also come from patterns seen on porcelain tiles in Portugal.  The lead print is a stunning watercolour floral designed by Amber and Tess Seven inspired by the colours of the Portuguese flag. As is Amber's style the garments themselves are feminine with modern influences but a timeless appeal and sense of joy.  Her silhouettes are flattering and wearable with a lovely range of styles suitable for many age groups.  It's definitely a smart thing to design in a way that's accessible to many different women, the pieces build on previous AW collections too and will integrate well into summer wardrobes.

Personally I love the fabrics Amber's used this season, the signature floral is an inspired choice and translates well across several garments although I do love the matching top and pants set which is very much a look of the moment.  The scarlet wrap dress is another favourite look of mine and I definitely wish I had that dress on hand when out dancing the night away in Spain earlier this year.  I've already added the lace insert singlet in scarlet to my wardrobe for summer and love that it's a delightful soft cotton which is a great breathable fabric to wear on warmer days.  There are definitely many pieces to adore from this collection and it's such a delight to watch Amber produce ranges that get better and better every season.

You can check out Amber's collection in store at her Parnell boutique at 323 Parnell Road or online here.
