Moochi's Dress Week: Winter 2015 Edition

Motive dress from Moochi's Dress Week collection for winter 2015.

Dresses are the focus of my wardrobe and always have been, so you can imagine how much I love a whole week focused on them.  Moochi's dress week for winter 2015 starts tomorrow, Friday 1st May and celebrates ten new dress styles which perfectly capture their style of elegant modernity.  The dresses are designed to be occasion pieces but there's a few you can incorporate into your work wardrobe to make for more sophisticated day to night looks too.  They've perfected a great mix of soft draping, clever tailoring and feminine silhouettes to create beautiful outfits that look and feel luxurious too.

Willa and Mae's Winsome Nights

Willa and Mae chemise from their new winter 2015 collection.

It's amazing how often not being able to find something you want is the motivation for making something yourself and that's exactly how local label, Willa and Mae, was created.  Mount Maunganui sisters Emma Clark and Rana Reuther spent much of their overseas travels trying to find the perfect silk sleepwear that was well-made, beautiful and most importantly comfortable.  When they couldn't find anything that matched the look and feel they were after they set about making it themselves, despite neither of them having any previous experience in the fashion industry.  It was a bold move, but after two years of research and trialling designs they released their first range late last year and since it has found favour with other New Zealand women now they're about to release their second collection.

Cast a Spell with Twenty-seven Names

School of Night coat and Atlantic Check dress from Twenty-seven Names 'Spellbound' collection.

As the days cool and winter slowly makes its way into the southern hemisphere, now feels like the best time to be talking about winter collections and this season is certainly going to be an enchanting one thanks to Twenty-seven Names.  The Wellington-based duo of Anjali Stewart and Rachel Easting design one of my go-to local labels and I was fortunate enough to have a quick chat with them about their favourite garments for winter, their fascinating new collection (I'm adoring those beautiful velvet pieces) and the big changes that have happened for their brand in the past year and a bit since we last talked fashion.

MBFWA 2015: My Favourite Collections

Madison Stubbington on the MBFWA runway for Watson X Watson

Every fashion week I'm filled with anticipation at what will be coming down the runway and year on year there are always great surprises, welcome comebacks and so many beautiful clothes it's hard to narrow down a list of favourites.  This MBFWA I set out to write a list of my top ten collections but I couldn't narrow it down any further than these twelve, all of which caught my eye for different reasons.

MBFWA 2015: My FashioNZ Daily Reports

Beautiful New Zealand model Amberley Colby on the MBFWA runway for Steven Khalil.

It's hard to believe another Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia is over already, I say it every year but they always go by in a blur and before I know it I'm on a plane home again.  This year I was reporting again for FashioNZ with my stylish companion and fellow Kiwi Craig Lawson, together we compiled daily show reports featuring every single show on the schedule.
