Karen Walker's Catalina Ruffle dress.

A lot has changed since Vogue first identified the Little Black Dress (LBD) as a shape of the future in 1926, back then it was Coco Chanel's simple yet elegant crepe de chine sheath which turned heads and changed the way women dressed. Fast forward to 2015 and black has become a staple in many wardrobes, and the LBD is worn at any opportunity, especially for evening wear. Karen Walker has recognised this in her new cocktail wear edit which teams the beautiful black dresses from her Elizabeth collection with gorgeous cocktail jewellery for a sophisticated effect.

The range is modeled by stunning New Zealand model, Amberley Colby, whose look perfectly complements the sixties-inspired collection. I love that Karen Walker has used velvet and lace for some of these pieces, velvet is such an elegant choice for evening wear and although there are some mini-lengths, the hemlines are a little longer for winter nights. The details in this garments are lovely too, I love the trims and ruffles, not to mention the relaxed silhouettes, which make the dresses really comfortable to wear. It won't be hard to put together a sublime evening outfit with these wonderful options.
